Traders not to sacrifice to improve living of rulers, bureaucrats
Bitter taste of democracy, masses missing ear of dictatorship
The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Tuesday said the next budget could prove to be last gift from democracy to the nobility and IMF.
The actions of champions of democracy have hit the confidence of masses in the system and many are now remembering the good old days of dictatorship.
“All sections of society are protesting over one thing or another and flawed policies are pushing the country to the Stone Age,” said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.
This he said while talking to a delegation of traders from Rawalpindi headed by Kamran Rashid.
He said that government is focused on giving lame excuses of rampant mismanagement. Their only interest is prolonging rule to make up for the past losses spanned over a decade in which they were out of power.
Dr. Mughal added that incompetency is adding to different deficits and foreign debt. Now government is planning to levy addition taxes on gas and petroleum to earn Rs. 70 billion additionally. This is despite the fact that Rs. 10 billion are being earned through taxes on monthly basis.
Budget of the residence of a ‘prince’ is Rs 1.7 billion while poor are asked to live against a monthly income of Rs 7000 which is cruelty at best. “This situation is adding to mass unrest, which could have unforeseeable consequences,” he warned.
At the occasion, Rashid said that imposition of VAT would result in price hike of minimum 200 essentials by 15-20 per cent, which will be a blow to masses reeling under inflation.
He said that masses and traders would not sacrifice themselves for revenue target of Rs 1.7 trillion that would be used to improve standard of living of rulers and bureaucrats.
State Bank is conspiring against country and helping plunderers for which Citibank mafia and foreign masters are directly responsible, he said.

پاکستان اکانومی واچ کے صدر ڈاکٹر مرتضیٰ مغل نے کہا ہے کہ اگلے مالی سال کا بجٹ اشرافیہ اور آئی ایم ایف کے لئے جمہوریت کاآخری تحفہ ثابت ہو سکتا ہے۔ جمہوریت کے دعویداروں کے کارناموں کی وجہ سے عوام کا ملکی نظام سے اعتماد اٹھ گیا ہے اور وہ آمریت کو یاد کر نے لگے ہیں۔
ہر طبقہ سراپا احتجاج بنا ہوا ہے اور ناکام پالیسیوں کی مدد سے ملک کو پتھر کے دور میں دھکیلا جا رہا ہے۔یہ بات انھوں نے راولپنڈی کے تاجروں ایک وفد سے ملاقات کے دوران کی جس کی سربراہی کامران راشد کر رہے تھے ۔ ڈاکٹر مرتضیٰ مغل نے کہا کہ حکمرانوں کا سارا زور اپنے کارنامے چھپانے، بد انتظامیوں کے لولے لنگڑے جواز پیش کرنے، اقتدار کو طول دینے اورایک دہائی تک اقتدار سے باہر رہنے کانقصان پورا کرنے میں صرف ہو رہا ہے جس سے عوامی بے چینی میں زبردست اضافہ ہو گیا ہے جس کامنطقی نتیجہ سول نافرمانی کی صورت میں نکل سکتا ہے۔انھوں نے کہا کہ بد انتظامی و نااہلی کی وجہ سے غیر ملکی قرضہ اور خسارہ بڑھ رہا ہے جبکہ شرح نمو میں کمی آ رہی ہے جسے اعداد و شمار کی مدد سے چھپانے کی کوشش کی جا رہی ہے۔ڈاکٹر مغل نے کہا کہ 10 ارب روپے کی ماہانہ آمدنی کے باوجود70 ارب کی اضافی آمدنی کے لئے پٹرول اور گیس پر مزید محاصل عائد کئے جا رہے ہیںجو ظلم ہے۔اس موقع پر کامران راشدنے کہا کہ ویٹ کی وجہ سے کم از کم دو سو اشیائے ضروریہ کی قیمتوں میں پندرہ سے بیس فیصد اضافہ ہو گا جس سے عوام کی کمر ٹوٹ جائے گی۔ ملک کے ایک گھر کابجٹ ایک ارب ستر کروڑ ہے اور غریبوں کو سات ہزار ماہانہ میں گزارہ کرنے کا درس دیا جا رہا ہے۔پانی اور بنیادی سہولیات سے محروم عوام اور تاجر حکومت کی عیاشیوں کے لئے 1.7کھرب کے محصولات کے ٹارگٹ کے لئے قربانی کا بکرا نہیں بنیں گے۔انھوں نے کہا کہ مرکزی بینک اپنے فرائض کی ادائیگی کے بجائے ملک و قوم کے خلاف سازشوں اور لٹیروں کی مددمیں مصروف ہے جس کی براہ راست زمہ دار سٹی بینک مافیا اور غیر ملکی آقا ہیں۔
