The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Friday said that EU’s promise to grant trade concessions to Pakistan is encouraging; US should also follow the suit to help its ally overcome difficulties.
It said that new governor of State Bank should announce tough measures while releasing Monetary Policy Statement on 29th of Sept. An economist can prove a better choice than a banker in the current set of circumstances.
Governor SBP Shahid Hafiz Kardar should try to limit government borrowings, improve fiscal discipline and reform banking sector, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.
Speaking at Pakistan National Heart Association (Panah), he said that government should try to improve regulatory environment, end monopolies, ban export of food items and import sugar on war footing as prices have started to escalate in the international market.
Dr. Mughal lauded the plan of Government of Punjab to create awareness among masses about ways to prevent heart diseases through Panah.
At the occasion, Major General (Retd) Masood-ur-Rehman Kiani, President of Panah said that changing lifestyle has made cardiac problems a common man issue. This it is a disaster in making which can be prevented.
He said that aid worth Rs 2.5 million has so far been distributed among affected through army and air force and it appears that provision of medicines has become more important than ever.
We will now focus on medication and distribute special soaps that can help minimise skin problems among flood affected people, said Kiani. He also announced life membership for Dr. Murtaza Mughal.
Dr. Abdul Qayyum Awan, SEVP Panah said that we are serving masses since 25 years and now we are in process of raising a force of cardiac care volunteers who will assist the needy in affected areas.

اسلام آبادپاکستان اکانومی واچ کے صدر ڈاکٹر مرتضیٰ مغل نے کہا ہے پورپی پونین کی جانب سے پاکستان کوتجارتی مراعات کا وعدہ خوش آئند ہے اورامریکہ بھی اس اقدام کی پیروی کرے۔بینکار کے بجائے ایک ماہر معیشت کی بطورگورنرسٹیٹ بینک تعیناتی خوش آئند ہے۔شاہد حافظ کاردارحکومتی قرضوں کو کنٹرول کریںاوربینکاری کے شعبہ میں اصلاحات روشناس کروائیں۔حکومت پنجاب کی جانب سے صوبہ بھر میںپاکستان نیشنل ہارٹ ایسوسی ایشن (پناہ) کے زریعے دل کی بیماریوں سے متعلق آگہی کا منصوبہ قابل تعریف ہے۔ ڈاکٹر مرتضیٰ مغل نے پناہ کے صدرمیجر جنرل (ر) مسعود الرحمانٰ کیانی، اول نائب صدرڈاکٹر عبدالقیوم اعوان اور دیگر عہدیداروں سے ایک میٹنگ کے دوران کہا کہ حکومت ہر قسم کی غذائی اشیاءکی برامد پر پابندی لگائے اور ہنگامہ بنیادوں پر چینی درامد کرے کیونکہ اسکی قیمت بین الاقوامی منڈی میں بڑھنا شروع ہو گئی ہے۔اس موقع پر جنرل (ر) مسعود کیانی نے کہا کہ طرز زندگی کی تبدیلی نے دل کی بیماری کو عام شخص کا مسئلہ بنا دیا ہے اور اس کا سدباب پناہ کا مقصد ہے۔صحتمند افراد ہی ملکی معیشت کی بہتری میں اپنا کردار ادا کر سکتے ہیں۔ انھوں نے کہا کہ پناہ نے سیلاب زرگان کو فوج اور فضائیہ کی مدد سے 25لاکھ کا ساماناور ادویہ دی ہیں اور اب رزاکاروں کے زریعے آگہی اور علاج کا منصوبہ تکمیل کے قریب ہے۔انھوں نے ڈاکٹر مرتضیٰ مغل کو لائف ممبر بنانے کا اعلان کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ اب پناہ اور اکانومی واچ مل کر انسانیت کی خدمت کریں گے۔ڈاکٹر عبدالقیوم نے کہا کہ سیلاب زدگان کو خوراک سے زیادہ دواﺅں کی ضرورت ہے اور انھیں ایسا صابن فراہم کیا جا رہا ہے جس سے جلدی بیماریوں کے تدارک میں مدد ملے گی۔
