The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Sunday said that India has stepped up its secret war against Pakistan to turn it into a desert.
Pakistan, once a water happy country is now facing threat of water starvation but the response of our government remains far from satisfactory, it said.
India continues to steal our water while all efforts by Pakistan to find an agreeable solution have proved counterproductive, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.
The Indus Waters Treaty has failed to settle water disputes between Pakistan and India therefore, it needs to be revisited and made to order, he said.Otherwise, he warned, nothing will forestall a war between two countries. It’s in the interest of US and the international community to take measures to avert a possible water war.
United Nations is also supporting Indian conspiracies by pumping huge funds in such controversial projects.
He lamented that resolution of such important issue has been left at the mercy of few bureaucrats as politicians remain busy in their favourite hobby of mudslinging.
Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that industries are being closed due to electricity and gas load shedding while insignificant issues keep all the political parties very pre occupied.
No proper effort has been undertaken to combat depleting water storage capacity in Mangla, Warsak, and Tarbela dams while rental power projects remain a preference of the decision makers which due to obvious reasons.
This suicidal tendency will leave us with less water for mass consumption, irrigation, industry, and hydropower generation, said Dr. Mughal.

اسلام آباد پاکستان اکانومی واچ کے صدر ڈاکٹر مرتضیٰ مغل نے کہا ہے ہمارے دیرینہ دشمن بھارت نے پاکستان کو صحرا میں بدلنے کی سازش تیز کر دی ہے جبکہ ہمارے سیاستدان اس اہم معاملہ کو نظر انداز کر کے معمولی معاملات میں الجھے ہوئے ہیں۔
پاکستان میںپانی کی کمی خوفناک حد تک پہنچ گئی ہے اور سندھ طاس معائدہ افادیت کھو چکا اگر اس میں فوری ترمیم نہ کی تودونوں ممالک کے مابین جنگ ہو گی۔ اس جنگ کو رکوانا امریکہ سمیت تمام بین الاقوامی برادری کی ذمہ داری ہے کیونکہ اقوام متحدہ بھی بھارت کی سازش میں شریک ہو کر اسے متنازعہ ڈیم بنانے میں بھرپور مالی مدد دے رہا ہے تاکہ وہ پاکستان کے حصہ کا مزید پانی بھی چوری کر سکے۔ ڈاکٹر مرتضیٰ مغل نے کہا کہ ہمارے سیاستدان اس خطرے کے تدارک میں سنجیدہ نہیں اسی لئے اس معاملہ کو افسر شاہی کے سپرد کر دیا گیا ہے۔ڈاکٹر مغل نے کہا کہ توانائی کے بحران نے معیشت کو تباہی کے دہانے پر لا کھڑا کیا ہے مگر نہ تو ڈیم بنانے پر کوئی توجہ دی جا رہی ہے نہ ہی تربیلا، منگلا اور وارسک ڈیموں کی حالت زار پر توجہ دی جا رہی ہے۔ حکومت کا سارا زور کرائے کے بجلی گھروں کے حصول پر ہے جس کی وجہ بھی کسی سے ڈھکی چھپی نہیں۔ہمارے ادارے اورسیاستدان بھارت کی سازشوں کو نظر اندازکر رہے ہیں جو خودکشی کا یقینی راستہ ہے۔
