Enemies want powerless Army, ISI to transform Pakistan into a satellite state
The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Tuesday said attack on an anchor is the beginning of a devastating conspiracy to transform Army and Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) into ineffective institutions.
An international conspiracy has been hatched against institutions promising sovereignty of Pakistan to transform it into a fragile satellite state, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.
The situation may result in a constitution amendment to limit budget of Army, bring nuclear assets into international control and relieve the ISI of some if its important responsibilities which will be unfortunate, he said.
Talking to former military officers, he said that a lobby has been active which want Army demoralised so that Pakistan can no longer remain independent in the comity of nations.
He said that Army is the guardian of our ideological and geographical borders and people of Pakistan pin high hopes on them. The supreme sacrifices of the armed forces have enabled us to live freely while their weakness will result in grave political and economic turmoil.
Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that US, India and other enemy countries are visibly pleased over the recent developments in Pakistan while patriot elements have become increasingly uncomfortable.
The journalist community should not become part of any campaign against Islam, Pakistan and the armed forces, he demanded.
He said that the hue and cry in the backdrop of attack on an anchor has paved way for suspicions of international interference in Pakistan’s internal matters which would be calamitous.
