Terrorists wants disturbance to foil military gains in FATA
Secretary General of the Pakistan Ex-servicemen Association (PESA) Brig. Syed Masood-ul-Hassan on Tuesday said army has cleared almost all of the South Waziristan of terrorists and restored peace.
Overnight stay of Army chief Gen Raheel Sharif, along with Corps Commander Gen. Hidayat ur Rehman, DGMO Gen. Aamir in a place like South Waziristan proves restoration of peace, he said.
Brig. Syed Masood-ul-Hassan said in a statement that 11th Core has done its job and now government as well as local administration to do their job lest the sacrifices of army go in vain.
Destruction has always remained easy as compare to construction, he said while talking to Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President of the Pakistan Economy Watch.
He said that the two best cadet collages are fully functional in South Waziristan, while army has constructed road, water supply schemes, health centres, schools etc.
The army veteran said that now local administration should ensure presence of staff in schools and hospitals lest local population become restless which is the desire of terrorists.
Terrorists wants to become a failure therefore they don’t want functional civic services there which must be foiled by the government, he said.
PESA has repeatedly demanded effective role of civil administration in Waziristan which is imperative for proper outcome of the operation.
During wars the responsibility of provision of civil services lies upon government but here army is burdened with everything.
At the occasion, Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW said that government should enhance funding in Waziristan as peace is more important than symbolic projects like metro bus, orange train and motorways.
