Top officials asked to take note of the situation
The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Thursday said multimillion dollar project of Islamabad Airport is being delayed which should be noticed by the authorities concerned.
The Prime Minister has announced to inaugurate to airport of on August 14th 2017 which will not be possible if serious issues were left unresolved, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.
In a statement issued here today, he said that issues related to infrastructure like access road and water supply and treatment system have not been completed.

He said that the road construction contract is awarded to contractor but pace of work is very slow and it is likely that it may not complete unless some concrete measures are taken by the concerned agencies.
Similarly another issue is of water supply and its treatment. The water supply pipeline is to be laid from a local dam which will collect water from rain water harvesting. Neither the dam for rain water harvesting is started nor pipeline from the dam is started yet which is amazing, he added.
Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that responsibility for supply of water to airport rest with Government of Punjab, contract for which is not awarded.
Moreover, he said, it has been reliably learnt that the one of the contractor is reluctant to complete water works and has refused to complete this project on the plea that the technical approval for water works design has been delayed by the consultants.
It is likely that if immediate actions and decisions are not taken by Secretary Defence and DG CAA to complete these outstanding works, the inauguration of airport on August 14th shall remain in jeopardy, he warned.
