اسلام آباد( جون 16) پاکستان اکانومی واچ کے صدر ڈاکٹر مرتضیٰ مغل نے کہا ہے کہ نت نئے ٹیکسوں اور غیر ملکی قرضوں کے زریعے ملکی آمدنی بڑھانے کی پالیسی اور بڑھتے ہوئے غیر ترقیاتی اخراجات ملک کی بقاءکے لئے انتہائی خطرناک ہیں۔یہ پالیسی ملک کے سیاسی، معاشی، سماجی اور نظریاتی نظام کو دیمک کی طرح چاٹ رہی ہے۔انھوں نے کہا کہ فلاحی وجمہوری حکومتیں قومی آمدنی بڑھانے کے لئے غریبوں کی کمر توڑنے کے بجائے طویل المعیاد منصوبہ بندی کرتی ہیں read more…

Decision to restore power supply to steel furnaces lashed

The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Friday flayed the decision of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) to restore power supply to the steel furnaces. It will benefit few while ignite mass protests.
Interest of the masses should triumph over the stakes of few industrialists. Common people are the most import asset of the country and their interest should remain supreme in any given situation, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.
He said that the assurance of chief of IESCO to industrialists that power supply to steel melting units would be restored is against the interest of masses who are suffering from load shedding. read more…

PEW honours contribution of OGDCL officers to secure release of abducted colleagues

The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Thursday lauded the historic contribution of officers of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) to get the abducted workfellows released.
It asked government to boost security of staff and installations serving in the troubled areas so that they can work with peace of mind. This is imperative for the development of this energy-starved nation.
Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW said that Drilling Engineer Mr. Qamar Hussain Naqvi resident of Multan, Accountant of drilling rig Muhammad Arif and driver Muhammad Khan were kidnapped for ransom from Kohat while on duty in mid of April.  read more…

PEW asks FBR to be sympathetic to senior auditors

The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Sunday asked Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to be just and benevolent to hundreds of senior auditors in the Sales Tax Department awaiting promotion since thirteen years.
They deserve level playing field, due regard and promotion as their other colleagues who have been enjoying promotions, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.
This he said while talking to a delegation of senior auditors who called on him the other day. He said that there is no rationale in keeping them in junior cadres after they have fulfilled criteria for promotion as mentioned by the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC).  read more…
