PEW lauds wisdom of Altaf, Shahi and others

The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Tuesday condemned the suicide attack on a peaceful procession in Karachi in which 43 people lost lives and at least 52 were injured. It urged all groups to exercise restraint.

Valuable lives have been lost in the bombing while economy has been jolted to the foundations, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW adding that the incident will hurt confidence of investors.

He lauded the prudent and sensible statements of MQM’s chief Altaf Hussain, President ANP Sindh Shahi Syed and other leaders.

Dr. Mughal requested all leaders to utilize all their abilities to foil the conspiracy to divide people of Karachi on ethnic and religious lines.

He said riots must be controlled after biggest attack on the economy of country and army should immediately be called if civil administration feels incapacitated.

Losses following the blast in country’s commercial capital have crossed Rs 30 billion mark which is a serious development. This act of terrorism can render the latest IMF’s tranche of 1.2 billion dollars worthless, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal.

He demanded proper measures to counter altered strategy of terrorists who were avoiding violence in Karachi since long saying that now we are facing multiple security challenges.

He also demanded a judicial probe into the security lapse because destabilize Karachi is actually destabilizing Pakistan.
