Shahbaz’s Step Supported

The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Tuesday lauded the step of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif who cancelled the registration of vacant plots in Sunder Industrial Estate.
This is a good step towards transparency and good governance as it will encourage genuine businessmen and discourage profiteers.
A proper policy should be framed for allotment of industrial plots to the genuine investors, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.Transparency, law and order and enabling environment are necessary factors for fuelling economic activity, he said.
He said that a mafia comprising influential businessmen and politicians is buying arid tracts across country at throwaway prices. They get it declared as industrial estate with the help of some government officials.
Similarly, another mafia, working in grab if industrialists obtain plots at economical prices in different industrial estates which are used as godowns, workshops, showrooms and for arranging marriage functions.
Such activities keep the real investors away that is against the national interest, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal.
He said a large number of units have been closed due to energy crisis and other issues but the demand for new industrial estates is repeated almost daily, which is amazing.
A probe into demand to establish new industrial estates in and around twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and investigation into the issue of Chakri industrial estate will reveal startling facts, he claimed.
Dr. Mughal also demanded probe into irregularities committed in the Sasti Roti Scheme.

اسلام آباد( مئی 11) پاکستان اکانومی واچ کے صدر ڈاکٹر مرتضیٰ مغل نے کہا ہے وزیر اعلیٰ پنجاب شہباز شریف نے سندر انڈسٹریل اسٹیٹ میں پلاٹوں کی الاٹمنٹ منسوخ کر کے گڈ گورنس اور شفافیت کی مثال قائم کی ہے۔اس سے جعلسازوں کی حوصلہ شکنی اورکھرے کاروباری طبقات کی حوصلہ افرائی ہو گی جس سے ملکی ترقی کی راہ ہموار ہو گی۔ ڈاکٹر مرتضیٰ مغل نے کہا کہ ایک منظم مافیا ملک کے مختلف حصوں میں کوڑیوں کے مول بنجر زمین خرید کر اسے انڈسٹریل اسٹیٹ بنوا نے کا دھندا کر رہا ہے جس میں اسے کچھ اہم سرکاری افسران کی مدد بھی حاصل ہے۔تاجروں اور کارخانہ داروں کے بھروپ میں کام کرنے والا یہ مافیا صنعتی بستیوں میں سستے پلاٹ لے کر ان پر شادی ھال، ورکشاپ، شو روم اور گودام بنانے کا دھندا بھی کر رہا ہے۔ انھوں نے کہا کہ حکومت کو کسی بھی علاقے میں صنعتی بستی کے قیام سے قبل سارے معاملات کا بغور جائزہ لینا ہو گا ورنہ صنعتی ترقی خواب رہے گی۔ڈاکٹر مغل نے کہا کہ اسلام آباد اور راولپنڈی میں نئی صنعتی بستیوں کے قیام کے مطالبہ، صنعتی پلاٹوں کے آزادانہ معائنہ اور چکری کی صنعتی بستی کے منصوبے کی نیب سے تحقیقات کروانے سے اہم حقائق سامنے آ سکتے ہیں۔
