FPCCI cannot improve sans sweeping change: PEW

The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Thursday bitterly criticised nepotism and corruption in the FPCCI which has disappointed all the stakeholders including business community.
The Apex Chamber has been stagnant since decades therefore a change has become imperative in it, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.
Talking to a delegation of business community, he said that FPCCI has become a studio where photo sessions have become the most important feature.
The leaders of the FPCCI are frequently accused of nepotism, corruption and exploitation of the business community which has dented its reputation, he added.

Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that it is generally believed that the posts in the FPCCI standing committees are allotted as a political bribe while the members of said committees are interested in nothing except publication of their visiting cards so that they can approach important government functionaries.
He said that since decades funds are embezzled or misused on different activities including unnecessary foreign trips.
The delegation said that a former president of FPCCI made a record by receiving eight million rupees as TADA in one year while another left with hefty amount.
Massive corruption has been done in the construction of FPCCI building and now both the warring groups continue to blame each other which government continue to play as silent spectator.
They said that God Fathers of FPCCI have amassed billions while business community continue to reel under exploitation, lawlessness, energy crises and harassment by government officials.
The traders were of the opinion that an operation clean-up has become imperative in the FPCCI for which vote is the best tool.
