ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Wednesday said thievery of classified data from Prime Minister’s secretariat has once again raised security and privacy concerns and underscored the need to follow safety measures.
It called for immediate implementation of information security policy for all government departments and private ventures to ensure security and confidentiality.
A breach of security could lead to serious national security issue, compromised personal information, lost business opportunity, dwindled confidence, tarnished image and even bankruptcy, said Dr Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.
This he said while talking to Syed Ammar Jafri, former chief of FIA’s Cyber Crimes Wing. He said that all departments and private businesses should have multiple security layers to stay away from extreme cost of data breach.
Unfortunately, protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information is yet to be considered a requirement by majority of decision makers, he said.
