The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Thursday said Afghan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement (APTTA) should be scrapped as it is an attempt to destabilise Pakistan by ensuring Indian supremacy in the region.
The deal has exposed undemocratic mindset of top US officials and added to trust deficit. It has forced many to think that Washington is enforcing its agenda on gunpoint and robbing Pakistan of its sovereignty, it said.
Our nation is being held hostage since 9/11; governments are carrying American orders under threat, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW. The situation is contrary to the claims of self-determination, he added.
The latest deal will hurt our trade, commerce, industry, railways, transport sector and hike unemployment. India will get a boost under APTTA while Islamabad will get increased terror incidents, amplified insurgency, drugs, arms, poverty, deprivation and uncertainty, he said.
Contradictory statements of top officials aimed at defending deal and satisfying masses are adding to anger among people who are taking this as a joint US-India onslaught, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal.
The deal in which provinces and other stakeholders were bypassed could be called a crime against 180 million Pakistanis, violation of constitution and a national security threat.
The deal has no moral standing as transit trade is already inflicting losses to the tune of billions and the new deal will multiply sufferings. It is a well-orchestrated plan to transform Pakistan into a consumer country.
India will get a lot while Pakistan will get nothing out of this deal.

اسلام آباد( جولائی 29 ) پاکستان اکانومی واچ کے صدر ڈاکٹر مرتضیٰ مغل نے کہا ہے کہ افغانستان پاکستان ٹرانزٹ ٹریڑ معاہدہ پاکستان میں عدم استحکام پیدا کرنے اورخطہ میں بھارتی بالادستی قائم کرنے کی امریکی سازش کا حصہ ہے۔یہ امریکہ اور بھارت کا مشترکہ حملہ ہے جس کا مقابلہ معاہدہ ختم کر کے کیا جا سکتا ہے۔ بندوق کی نوک پر کروائے گئے اس معاہدہ سے امریکی حکام کی زہنیت کھل کر سامنے آ گئی ہے اور باہمی عدم اعتماد کو فروغ ملا ہے۔امریکہ نے ہمیں 9/11کے بعد سے ہراساں کر رکھا ہے اور اب ہماری رہی سہی خودمختاری بھی چھیننے کی کوششیں کر رہا ہے۔ ڈاکٹر مرتضیٰ مغل نے کہا کہ اس معاہدے سے ہماری صنعت، تجارت، برامدات، ریلوے، ٹرانسپورٹ اور دیگر شعبوں کو ناقابل تلافی نقصان پہنچے گا اور ملک میںاسلحہ، منشیات، غربت، بے روزگاری، خودکشیاں، دہشت گردی اور عدم استحکام بڑھے گا۔ اس سے بھارت کو تو بہت کچھ ملے گا مگر پاکستان بہت کچھ کھو دے گا۔ انھوں نے کہا کہ اس معاہدے کا دفاع کرنے والے اعلیٰ حکام کے متضاد بیانات عوام کو مطمئن تو کیا کرتے اس سے بے یقینی اور غصہ میں اضافہ ہی ہو رہا ہے۔ڈاکٹر مغل نے پوچھا کہ آخر کیا اسباب تھے کہ صوبوں اور دیگر اہم شراکت داروں کو بے خبر رکھا گیا۔انھوں نے کہا کہ یہ آئین کی خلاف ورزی، اٹھارہ کروڑ پاکستانیوں کے خلاف سازش اور ملکی سلامتی کا معاملہ ہے۔ راہداری کے معاہدے پہلے ہی پاکستان کو اربوں روپے کا نقصان پہنچا رہے ہیں اور مزید معاہدے ملک کو تباہی کے دہانے تک پہنچا دینگے کو امریکہ اور بھارت کی خواہش ہے۔
