TI slammed for failure in applying the principles of fair play
Corporate giants fan and benefit from conflicts in third world
The Pakistan Economy Watch (Pew) on Sunday said interference of Transparency International (TI) in the affairs developing nations is a challenge to their sovereignty.
Such reports may not provide true picture as TI collect data from a small section of society, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.
How, where and when these surveys take place, how authors of report are selected, he questioned adding that masses must know about the mechanism through which TI avoids conflicts of interest.
This organization has been criticised for taking sides, misinformation and repeated failure in applying the principles of natural justice.
The credibility of TI is on the line due to frequent criticism on poor methodology, unfair treatment of poor countries and the way they select their local representatives, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal.
We need to know the purpose of such reports and its rate of success in bringing down the level of corruption, he added.
Many governments, institutions and individuals have charged TI for less than transparent behaviour, flawed reporting and pushing a political agenda, he said.
TI should also inform masses about the corruption and exploitation by powerful western multinationals and the way huge corporations that fan conflicts in the third world and ultimately benefit it.
The names of financiers and donors of TI must be brought to limelight, he demanded.

اسلام آباد پاکستان اکانومی واچ کے صدر ڈاکٹر مرتضیٰ مغل نے کہا ہے ٹرانسپرنسی انٹرنیشنل کی بے جا مداخلت ترقی پزیر ممالک کی آزادی اور اقتدارِ اعلیٰ کے لئے ایک چیلنج ہے۔اسکی رپورٹیں چند افراد کے رائے پر مشتمل ہوتی ہیں جو معاشرتی رجحان کی مکمل عکاسی نہیں کرتیں۔انھوں نے کہا کہ ایسی رپورٹیں کون، کب اور کہاںبناتا ہے، لکھنے والوں کو کیسے منتخب کیا جاتا ہے اور انکی زاتی رائے کو کیسے پرکھا جاتا ہے۔ ڈاکٹر مرتضیٰ مغل نے کہا کہ مختلف ممالک ، اداروں اور صحافیوں نے ٹرانسپرنسی انٹرنیشنل پر جانب داری، ڈس انفارمیشن، نا انصافی، غریب ممالک سے زیادتی اور قابل اعتراض افراد کو بطور مقامی نمائندہ چننے سمیت متعدد الزامات عائد کئے ہیں جس کا جواب دیناضروری ہے۔اس ادارے کی رپورٹوں کی افادیت اور ان سے کرپشن میں کمی ہونے کی دعوے کی تصدیق ہوناابھی باقی ہے۔ڈاکٹر مغل نے کہا کہ یہ ادارہ غریب ممالک کو نشانہ بنانے کے بجائے مغربی ممالک کی کرپشن، غریب ممالک کو بلیک میل کر کے لوٹنے اور ان بڑی کثیر الاقومی کمپنیوں کرتوت بھی سامنے لائے جو اپنے منافع کی خاطرغریب ممالک میںسیاسی بے چینی اور تنازعات کو ہوا دیتے ہیں۔عوام کو ٹرانسپرنسی انٹرنیشنل کی مالی مدد کرنے والوں اور انکے خفیہ سیاسی ایجنڈا کے بارے میں بھی بتایا جائے۔
